PMCCS-6 The Sixth International Workshop on Performability Modeling of Computer and Communication Systems September 5-7, 2003 Monticello, Illinois, USA part of the 2003 Illinois International Multiconference on Measurement, Modelling, and Evaluation of Computer-Communication Systems Extended Abstracts PMCCS-6 The Sixth International Workshop on Performability Modeling of Computer and Communication Systems September 5-7, 2003 Monticello, Illinois, USA part of the 2003 Illinois International Multiconference on Measurement, Modelling, and Evaluation of Computer-Communication Systems FOREWORD It is our pleasure to present the program of the Sixth International Workshop on Performability Modeling of Computer and Communication Systems (PMCCS-6), to be held in Monticello, Illinois, USA, September 5-7, 2003. The PMCCS series started in 1991 as a forum to gather researchers working in the emerging area of performability of computer and communication systems. The intent of the workshop was to favor an informal but deep exchange of new and in-progress work on the combined modeling and analysis of performance and dependability aspects of systems. Previous workshops in the series were held in: PMCCS-1 University of Twente, The Netherlands, 1991 PMCCS-2 Le Mont Saint Michel, France, 1993 PMCCS-3 Indian Lakes Resort, Bloomingdale, IL, USA, 1996 PMCCS-4 College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA, USA, 1998 PMCCS-5 University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, 2001 The workshop focuses on theory, techniques, and tools for performability modeling, along with their application to the evaluation and design of computer and communication systems. PMCCS6 is being hosted at the Robert Allerton Park and Conference Center in Monticello, Illinois, USA and is taking place under the umbrella of the 2003 Illinois International Multiconference on Measurement, Modelling, and Evaluation of Computer-Communication Systems. The contributions to this Workshop cover various aspects of performability modeling and analysis, with particular emphasis on algorithms, queueing models, model checking, simulation, and statistical inference. Various contributions deal with applications in the area of computer, communication, and safety-critical systems. According to the traditions of the PMCCS series, the workshop will be characterized by open and intense discussions on various topics in performability modeling and analysis. To favor an open discussion, an informal booklet containing extended abstracts of the presentations will be distributed among the attendants, while the authors maintain full copyright of their material. We would like to thank the authors, whose submitted contributions allowed us to prepare an interesting scientific program. Moreover, the effort of all the people who contributed to the organization of this event, in particular William H. Sanders and Jenny Applequist, is gratefully acknowledged. We would also like to thank the Coordinated Science Laboratory (CSL) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, for making a financial contribution to this event. We wish all the participants a successful and enjoyable workshop. متن کاملModelling and Compensation of uncertain time-delays in networked control systems with plant uncertainty using an Improved RMPC Method
Control systems with digital communication between sensors, controllers and actuators are called as Networked Control Systems (NCSs). In general, NCSs encounter with some problems such as packet dropouts and network induced delays. When plant uncertainty is added to the aforementioned problems, the design of the robust controller that is able to guarantee the stability, becomes more complex. In...
متن کاملQuadrature Amplitude Modulated Digital Radio Transmission Modeling and Simulation
Computer aided design and computer aided modeling tools are becoming increasingly important in the design and performance evaluation of communication systems. In this work, we report on the computer simulation modeling study of terrestrial digital microwave radio transmission, using Block Oriented System Simulator package (BOSS). The work concentrates on semi-analytical error rate evaluation in...
متن کاملMODELLING AND ANALYSIS OF A DISCRETE-TIME PRIORITY QUEUING COMPUTER NETWORK WITH PRIORITY JUMPS USING PROBABILITY GENERATING FUNCTIONS
Priority queues have a great importance in the study of computer communication networks in which different types of traffic require different quality of service standards. The discrete-time non-preemptive priority queuing model with priority jumps is proposed in this paper. On the basis of probability generating functions mean system contents and mean queuing delay characteristics are obtained....
متن کاملMeasurement and Modelling of the Rubber Resilience based on Ultrasonic Non-destructive Testing in Tires
In tire industry, it is very crucial to evaluate physical and mechanical properties of the rubber which is used for production of the tire, to ensure the quality of the final product. Resilience is an important property of a rubber, which cannot be evaluated through direct measurement in production cycle in this industry. Therefore, non-destructive ultrasonic testing, which has been used in man...
